Civics 101-The Constitution of the United States of America

The Preamble is more than words on a page—it’s the foundation of our democracy. In this course, students in grades 4–8 will dig into its meaning, line by line, to uncover the ideas that still shape our nation today. Together we’ll explore, question, and discuss with a critical eye, building not just knowledge but the ability to analyze and connect ideas as a community. The experience culminates in a project-based learning showcase, where students put their understanding into action—demonstrating not just what they’ve learned, but how they can carry these ideals forward. This course doesn’t just teach civics; it nurtures informed, confident young citizens ready to make their voices heard.

  • We believe God’s principles are not only right—they are wise. We compare facts with truth, examining each topic alongside God’s perspective as the ultimate authority. This helps students know the ultimate meaning of right and wrong and teaches them to move and decide from an accurate and solid place of understanding.

  • The curriculum is designed by a strategic, highly regarded educator with a record of helping students close gaps and excel. Here, kids learn to think, read, write, and speak critically—setting them on a path toward strong success in college and career readiness.

  • This is our flagship civics course, but not our last. Future courses will expand into deeper civic studies and advanced academic skill-building, continuing the growth students begin here.

  • This program is intentionally designed to support students from marginalized communities, giving them focused attention and opportunities they might not otherwise receive. That said, any child who joins is fully welcomed, valued, and supported. Every student in the program has space to grow academically, socially, and personally, and we work to meet each child where they are to help them thrive.

  • Students should have basic grade-level reading skills—meaning they can recognize and read words at their grade level, even if they need support with comprehension. We set this expectation so every child can fully engage with the lessons and benefit from the program’s instruction.

  • Children who thrive in this program often show curiosity about how the world works. They may enjoy asking thoughtful questions, think critically, or want to express their ideas and stand up for what they believe is right. These traits help students engage fully with discussions, projects, and problem-solving activities that build civic understanding and leadership skills.
